Amazingly the Sato pull it off and the battle takes place away from the river. Both sides deployed with their foot in the center and their horse on the flanks. After an exchange of arrows, the Sato knights on each flank charged the Hashimoto horse. In the ensuing melee both Sato Masayuki and Sato Eitei were slain along with 2/3 of the knights, however the bulk of his army held and when the Hashimoto archers were wiped out the Hashimoto withdrew from the field with the surviving units taking shelter in the castle of Izumisano. The surviving Sato now under the command of Aragaki Masayoshi and Shingaki Tadashi withdrew from Tokashiki into their respective home provinces in preparation for the struggle over control of the Sato lands as both the Lord and his heir were slain.
