The native language is of course Zaidan-go (Language of Zaidan). As well there are two secret languages Shintaku-go (Language of the Trusted people), spoken by Shaman, and Tokai-go (Hidden Language), spoken by Shinobi.
There are also the following "magical" languages: Shinrin-go (Language of the Forest) spoken by woodland creatures, Kami-go (Spirit language) spoken by spirits, and Maho-go (Language of Magic) used for writing and incanting magic.
In addition, the following foreign languages are available:
- Gyosha-go (Language of the Trader's) – A patois or common tongue spoken by merchants and traders throughout the region.
- Hondo-go (Language of the Mainland) – spoken in Furishi, there are several dialects.
- Horosha-go (Language of the Vagabonds) – spoken by the race of “Sea Gypsies” that are found in most waters, it is almost, but not a secret language, being taught to very few outsiders.
- Hutan-go (Language of Hutan) – spoken in Hutan, written in Kanji, this is the where Kanji originated.
- Kiiradei-go (Language of Kiiradei) – spoken in Kiiradei, written in Kanji, related to Maru-go.
- Kitaka-go (Language of the Northern Places) – spoken in Tabitsu and the Nadeko Retto, related to Hondo-go.
- Maru-go (Language of the Maru) – spoken in Maruba, written in Kanji, related to Kiiradi-go.
- Mukomin-go (Language of the People Dwelling Beyond) – spoken in Tanfuru and the lands rumoured to exist beyond there.
- Ryu-go (Language of Dragons) – spoken in Ryusyu, Zaidanese legend claims this to be the language of dragons.
- Tsoajin-go (Language of the Tsoa People) – spoken on Tsoa.
