I made up the name Zaidan-Tai years ago for a completely different campaign, it just sounded like a cool name for a Japanesey place. Any way, I was just seeing if Google would let me translate a Japanese word without me knowing the Kanji - and it does! (More on that later), Anyway, I tried it with "Zaidan".
"Zai" didn't work, but it could be considered a variation of "dai/tai", which means large as well as "great", and "dan" means "stage".
So Zaidan could mean "The Large Stage".
Pretty cool, eh?
What I did was type in the word and set the language to Japanese. It didn't translate, but it did suggest a Japanese word in kanji in the "Did you mean? line.

I'm watching Ran right now while catching up. Ran is based on Shakespeare's King Lear. Shakespeare said the world is a stage. Yeah, it works.

Just checked the trailer of Ran and I must now find a DVD. I would also recommend Kagemusha!
