Great ideas regarding the Agendas. I had something like that in mind, depending on just what domains are in play. That's why I said it would be really fun if at least two factions were player controlled.
I should mention another possibility, the guilds domains are organized into leagues of associated domains, so there is a possibility of playing a cooperative campaign centred on guilds as well. though just how that would play out is anybody's guess.

I still strongly prefer at least separate player-controlled factions simply because I think the politics and diplomacy become so much more interesting. I should note that I am currently enrolled in a graduate-level international relations program so I am extremely biased!

I think that it's pretty certain that that is the direction we will go. The faction/cadet clan idea will be used to give bonuses or penalties to the interpersonal actions. Say, for example, you want to hire an adviser or lieutenant, the relationship between your clan and his will affect your chances of success.
It will also have an effect on loyalty and reactions of NPCs the way the racial reactions do.

Not sure how I missed a key word, but I meant to write: at least THREE separate player-controlled factions. My comment ought to make more sense in that context!

It does. However, as I said we don't have enough players to do that and let people play guilds and temples and such.

I hope I am not reviving an old thread. But say - as per the map above, Sato and Mori clans are somewhat related (and the same goes for same-coloured clans)? Is this a proper way of reading it? The way I understand this is that the related clans would have some pre-existing hook to work on something (then up to them to explore that avenue or not). Please correct me if I went off-tracks here.

Oh sorry, this idea has been dropped. It was an idea we tossed around when we had only 5 players and were thinking of everybody playing a PL, and were exploring the idea of breaking up the geographical positions somewhat.
Given the length of time available, you can safely assume that you are related in some degree to every other clan. if you want a particularly close or recent relationship with any given clan, if it's a player clan, then contact them, and if it's an NPC clan, contact me.
