As I posted elsewhere, the plan is for each player to take the role of one of the Paramount Lords of the five regions. I will be posting some more in depth details of each of those positions in the next day or three, and then I will be asking you guys to pick which region you would like to play.

Are you interested in any input right now? Can we make suggestions or requests associated with minor changes to these positions? Would you like to see anything from us either publicly or privately regarding our interests and inclinations at this time?
I understand if it's too early. As I alluded in a PM to you, I have some familiarity with medieval Japanese history and, for that reason, I am drawn to certain aspects of the setting more than others.

Actually, yes I am. It turns out we have only 4 players interested (or maybe just 3,as that is how many have joined here), so it looks like we are going to have to either reduce the scope somewhat, or give it a little more time to see if anybody else is interested. I'll be working on something to post this afternoon.

I don't think it's overly optimistic to expect that Birthright.net will get a spike in traffic now that you can once again buy the setting on drivethrurpg.com.
Perhaps you might want to post something encouraging new Birthright players to give your game a whirl. Also, other folks may be having difficulty posting (I have had to contact a moderator for every public post I've made); perhaps it's worthwhile to remind folks they can PM you.
Anyway, I am in no rush. I rather expect it'll be a better game if we can get more players. Anyway, since I am a complete novice to the game -- unless you count playing Gorgon's Alliance fifteen years ago! -- I expect more players will mean a better chance that they'll attack each other instead of me. Though, it's also possible more players just means I'll be gobbled up that much faster!

No problem in waiting, gives me more time to read the rulebook and known how a realm works.

I'm also interested in seeing what you come up Bob, I've always been interested in settings just from a fluff perspective.
What you've linked on Twilight Peaks has had me interested and I'd like a chance to see more and provide some feedback.

I would suggest posting a notice on the boards of the currently active pbem´s, or perhaps sending a massmail to the players who were in reign, Dawn, etc. Propably alot of ppl who dont look in on birthright.net all that often (like me, first time i checked in months). Gonna check things out here now.

Activity is slow enough on Birthright.net that I typically only check it once a month.

Because the Paramount Lords have about 4 times the GB & RP of the other domain types I have been looking at ways to even things out a bit. At the moment I'm contemplating making all the player temple, guild, & source domains combined domains by combining them with one of the smaller landed domains. Do any of you who want to play temple, guild, or source domains have any issue with that idea?

No problem with that.
Do you think if that's time we choose how to play? Or wait for more players?

For a combined temple/landed domain, I can see it easily going two ways:
1) It's a noble family with very close ties to a temple. 2) It's a temple with extensive lands.
I would be equally happy to play either, or, as I noted already, I can just played a landed regent to keep things simple.

Yes, either of those works, or the third option, the head of a temple just happens to inherit the clan leadership.

No problem with that. Do you think if that's time we choose how to play? Or wait for more players? I think we can do both. My intention is to put together a collection of enough playable positions to give everybody a few options, post the basic details of them and see who is interested in what, all of which will take some time. I am hoping that we can have the basic format settled and positions chosen by the end of January. Mostly I was just letting everybody know the direction my thinking was going, since the previous ideas didn't accommodate people playing the type of domain they wanted to in case there was anybody who really didn't want to play a landed domain at all, in which case I would have to do some amalgamating or altering of holdings in order to create a playable position.

I also don't want to wait too long because that might cause somebody to lose interest, and we don't have enough players to really afford that. Besides, anybody interested can always join in after we have begun playing, it's not like there isn't plenty of real estate to go around, right?
